SERIES 67 BELT DRIVE ADJUSTABLE PITCH VANEAXIAL FAN, HIGH TEMPERATURE SK-880-67 FEBRUARY, 2002

The Belt Drive Adjustable Pitch Vaneaxial Fan, High Temperature shall be manufactured by Hartzell Fan, Inc.®, Series 67. Standard sizes are 35" through 79". The fan shall be a rugged two-piece design. Fan housing shall contain the propeller, shaft and bearing housing, and fan drive section. Guide vane section shall be a separate bolt on piece. Vanes shall be aerodynamically designed to recover energy from the air stream. The fan shall be completely assembled and test run at the factory. Motors greater than 30 HP shall be removed prior to shipment to prevent damage to the fan in transit.

The adjustable pitch, belt drive, vaneaxial propeller shall be a 9-bladed airfoil design. Blades shall be cast 319 aluminum with high strength threaded mounting bolt. Hub shall be cast 319 aluminum. Castings shall be in accordance with Federal Specification QQ-A-601E and ASTM B26. Blades and hub shall be machined with matching tapered shank and bore for accurate fit. The individual blades shall be secured to the hub with a lockwasher and nut. The blades shall be easily adjustable for future changes in capacity without removing the propeller from the fan shaft. The propeller shall be taper bored and attached to the fan shaft utilizing taper lock bushing with key bolted to the propeller. A safety plate, bolted to the fan shaft, shall provide additional attachment means.

Fan housing shall be welded construction and shall have continuously welded seams. Fan housings shall be minimum: 7 gauge size 35, 1/4" plate sizes 39 thru 63, and 3/8" plate sizes 71 thru 79. All sizes shall have minimum 1/4" rolled steel flanges continuously welded to the steel drum. All flanges shall have slotted mounting holes. Motor shall be supported on rigid motor mounting plate supported on exterior of fan housing.

Fan shafts shall be turned ground and polished carbon steel. Bearings shall be located in a drive compartment on the negative pressure side of the propeller. Bearings shall be heavy duty, self-aligning ball, or roller bearing type mounted in pillow block housings. Bearings shall have extended lube lines and shall be relubricable for continuous service. Minimum L50 bearing life at maximum catalog speed, horsepower, and static pressure: 500,000 hours (horizontal). Minimum L50 bearing life at maximum catalog speed, horsepower, and static pressure: 250,000 hours (vertical). Fixed pitch drives shall be provided as standard. Belts shall be V type, heat, oil, and static resistant and be sized for continuous service. Motor position shall be adjustable for belt tensioning.

Fan shall be fabricated of commercial quality carbon steel and welded in accordance with AWS D1.1 standard. Standard surface coating system shall be phosphatized surface preparation and finished with industrial grade air-dry enamel paint. Fan shall be suitable as standard for 350° F. operation, with ambient air temperature of 104° F..

The fan assembly shall be dynamically balanced at the Hartzell factory prior to shipping. Fans shall be balanced in accordance with AMCA Standard 204-96, fan application category BV-3 (comparable to Grade G6.3). Fans shall be test run in factory at full speed prior to shipment. Vibration levels in horizontal, vertical, and axial positions with filter-in and filter-out shall be recorded. Filter-in vibration levels at the service speed shall not exceed 0.15 inches per second velocity. Filter-out vibration levels for all frequencies shall not exceed 0.25 inches per second. Fans shall be manufactured in accordance with Hartzell's standard quality assurance procedures.

Fan performance shall be based on tests conducted in Hartzell's AMCA accredited test laboratory in accordance with the latest revision of AMCA Standard 210 for air performance and AMCA Standard 300 for sound.
