The Belted Hooded Roof Ventilator, Filtered Intake, shall be manufactured by Hartzell Fan, Inc., Series 16F. Standard sizes are 24" through 84".
The hooded roof ventilator shall be a rugged, industrial design, consisting of a galvannealed steel base, galvannealed steel hood and a steel orifice panel and motor and bearing mount. The hood shall be designed to provide easy access to the fan, bearings, shaft and motor (one piece hood for sizes 24Ó to 36Ó and two piece hood for sizes 42Ó to 84Ó). The base shall be designed such that the dampers can be easily installed without further modifications to the unit.
The fan portion of the unit shall consist of a steel orifice panel with a cast aluminum, airfoil type propeller. The propeller shall be secured by a split taper bushing or a clamp block, to a ground and polished, carbon steel shaft.
The shaft shall be located and secured in foot mounted, pillow block type, ball bearings. The prop shall be driven by a totally enclosed air over motor, through V-groove type pulleys and static resistant V-belts. The units shall have lifting lugs provided as standard equipment. The hood shall be able to accommodate filters. Fixed pitch drives shall be standard.
The design shall provide for complete protection from the elements for supply airflow. The fan assembly shall be placed in the upper section of the ventilator base with the propeller on the downside. The motor, drives, bearings, belts, etc. shall be located above the fan assembly and enclosed by the hood. The motor and bearing base shall be steel and shall be supported by oversized solid steel support rods to provide rugged construction. The unit shall be a compact, low profile ventilator.
The galvannealed steel base shall be a minimum of 14 gauge material, and the hood shall be a minimum 18 gauge galvannealed steel.
The fan assembly in the hooded ventilator shall be dynamically balanced at the Hartzell factory prior to shipping. Fans shall be balanced in accordance with AMCA Standard 204, fan application category BV-3 (comparable to Grade G6.3). This fan shall be manufactured in accordance with Hartzell's standard quality assurance procedures. Fan performance shall be based on tests conducted in Hartzell's AMCA accredited test laboratory and in accordance with AMCA Standard 210 for air performance and AMCA Standard 300 for sound performance.
